• Image of SONIC'S RENDEZVOUS - SWEET NOTHING (LP)

The original 1998 pressing, the first legitimate, live recordings of the legendary Sonic's Rendezvous band. Direct Metal Mastered on 12 inch 180 gram virgin vinyl.

Recorded live at Ann Arbor’s Second Chance on April 4, 1978, the last Sonic’s Rendezvous performance before the majority of the band departed on a European tour as Iggy Pop’s backing band; David Bowie later remarked Fred and company were "the most defiant band I’ve ever heard." Uncompromising Detroit rock & roll, Sweet Nothing proves Bowie was on to something.

"A crucial piece of Michigan power-rock history finally drops into place with the release of live material by the late Fred "Sonic" Smith's legendary, post-MC5 combo... documents the band's fearsome power, velocity and superior, original songwriting with stunning soundboard clarity..." - David Fricke, Uncut

“There had been a couple of poorly recorded bootlegs over the years, but nothing worthy of the SRB’s rep until the group’s charge d’affaires, Freddie Brooks (in cooperation with Patti Smith), released Sweet Nothing, a crisp soundboard recording from a relentlessly ripping 1978 show... It’s nothing but ferocious rama-lama rock and roll played with guitars set on liquefy. The towering eight-and-a-half minute show-closing blitz on "City Slang", which rivals the studio take for pulverizing power, is stunning... Essential listening for fans of the MC5 and the Stooges.” - Tim Perlich, Now Magazine (Toronto)
